Hope Gardens

On April 10, we were lucky enough to work with another wonderful organization at UNC, HOPE Gardens. HOPE Gardens is a completely student-run organization whose purpose is to cultivate relationships between UNC students, the homeless, and the overall Chapel Hill community at large through learning about sustainable agriculture and food. Not only does the gardens provide jobs for the homeless, it also provides workspace for anyone who wants to grow their own food. The ARC of Orange County even has its own section! The mission of HOPE Gardens is very similar to the mission of the ARC of Orange County — there is inherent worth and dignity in everyone, and fostering relationships with the others can only help build a stronger community.

On April 13, HOPE Gardens hosted an "Art Walk" event to celebrate art and the Gardens. We were lucky enough to work with Silvan from HOPE Gardens at Petals Class to create bottles for the event. It was a great way to connect with new organizations, and our vases looked so pretty at the event!

We can't have vases without adding water first!

Silvan, our wonderful HOPE Gardens representative. It was so great to meet with her!

Sarah and Julia, some of our best volunteers!

Sometimes Petals class gets a little bit silly :)

Don't they look so pretty?

Beautiful, beautiful flowers!
